& Region Stoma Service

Welcome to the Merseyside & Region Stoma Service (MARSS). This is a new NHS service that will be responsible for issuing prescriptions for people living in the areas covered by Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens, Warrington, and Wirral Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). Stoma products include all stoma bags/pouches and associated additional products (for example barrier spray, adhesive remover).

The Merseyside & Region Stoma Service has been set up to enhance the care that people using stoma products receive. Having your stoma prescriptions provided by a centralised service, run by a team of specialist stoma nurses, will mean that you will be able to access the right clinical support when you need to. Your prescriptions will be authorised by our specialist stoma nurses, who will be able to ensure that you are ordering and using the best products for your particular needs.

From time-to-time you will also be offered an appointment at our clinic or, if appropriate, in your own home to review the stoma products that you use and make sure you are coping well with your stoma. If you feel that you need the advice and support of a stoma nurse, you will be able to reach out to the service at any point.
